Agra University, Agra granted affiliation to Hindi subject at under Graduate level in 1961 itself with the establishment of the college. Subsequently the affiliation was shifted to Meerut University and then to present H.N.B. Garhwal central University.
Initially, the General Hindi was also taught to the students of B.A. and B.Sc. who had not opted Hindi Literature as a main subject and marks were used to added in the result. Later on General Hindi became an extra optional subject and its marks were not added in the result and ultimately the provision of this course was withdrawn.
Hindi department has the privilege to be served by learned scholars like Dr. Raj Kumar Verma, Dr. Arvind Pandey, Dr. Hridaya Narain Tripathi and now by Dr. Anupama Tripathi.
The department plays a key role in organizing debates, seminars and many other literary programmes and produced many illustrious alumni.
