Students are encouraged to join one of the following:
National Service Scheme(N.S.S.)
There are three vibrant units (two girls and one boy)
of NSS under the control of three Programme Officers. Students of undergraduate
classes are registered as volunteers for these units.
National Cadet Corps (N.C.C.)
(NCC) NCC
Training is imparted to our boys and girls students by separate units. Both
units are working under State Directorate of Uttarakhand with its controlling
units 29 UK BN and 11 UK BN. Male and female students of undergraduate classes
may join NCC. Further information regarding seats etc. may be obtained from the
concerned ANOs.
Rovers and Rangers:
Rover and
Rangers units are imparting training to college students in different
personality development traits. The units are working under Bharat Scouts and
Guides organization. Students should contact the Rover and Ranger Leaders for
registration etc.
Sports
The
College has an independent department of Physical Education, looked after by a
faculty to promote sports and games. Basketball and Volleyball courts, a table
tennis hall, playground for Cricket, Football, Kabbadi, and Hockey are
available along with other basic facilities for sports.
The
college organizes from time-to-time University Athletics Meet, Cricket
Tournament, Boxing Tournament etc. Books on various sports and games are
available to participants in the Physical Education Department. College is also
the recipient of different grants from the Department of Sports, MHRD, Govt. of
India for the development of sports-related infrastructure in the college.
Cultural Activities :
To hone
the cultural talent of the students, the college has a cultural committee which
invites talented singers, dancers, instrumentalists, dramatists etc. The
students participate in Intercollegiate University Meet at Srinagar and other
places as well under the supervision of the committee.
Literary
Activities :
To
enhance the talents and capabilities of students, the college regularly
organizes debate competitions, essay writing competitions, poetry writing
competitions, discussion on literature in various languages. Starting of
ENewsletter, organizing expert talks, organizing quizzes, starting students
Literary Club are in the pipeline.
Namami
Gange Cell :
The main
purpose of the cell is the conservation of river Ganga, reducing pollution in
the banks of the river, understanding the importance of the river for the
sustainable development of the nation and also understanding the spiritual
value of the river through the wisdom of the Indian knowledge System. This cell
will organize awareness campaigns, seminars, debates, poster competitions,
rallies, Shram Dan etc to achieve the goal through the participation of
students. NEP students enrolling in this cell for CCS have to devote 30 hours
in any one semester to avail the certificate from the Cell as per the NEP
degree requirement.
Ek Bharat
Shreshtha Bharat Cell :
The
purpose of this cell is to showcase the rich culture and tradition of India
through culture, customs, traditions and to celebrate the Unity in Diversity of
our Nation through various cultural and literary activities, fairs, festivals.
NEP students enrolling in this cell for CCS have to devote 30 hours in any one
semester to avail the certificate from the Cell as per NEP degree requirement.
Swachh
Bharat Cell :
The
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is the most significant cleanliness campaign of
Government of India. To have the largest participation, students of higher
educational institutes can also join the programme. This cell will enrol
students other than students enrolled in NCC, NSS, Rovers and Rangers and
facilitate in the awareness campaign, discussions, debates, Shram Dan for a
clean campus, clean neighbourhood, clean city which will have a spillover
effect for clean State and clean Nation. NEP students enrolling in this cell
for CCS have to devote 30 hours in any one semester to avail the certificate
from the Cell as per NEP degree requirement.
Indian
Knowledge System Cell :
The
college has initiated a separate cell from 2022-23 to inculcate the rich Indian
Knowledge System among the youth generation. For enrichment of the youth, to
preserve the rich knowledge system that India carries, to explore the vast
treasures of Indian Languages, Philosophy, Yoga, Astrology, Drama, Music,
Polity, Grammar, Medicine , Architecture etc , this cell has been established.
Students from any stream can register in the cell and explore the vast
treasures of wisdom of ancient Indian Knowledge through various workshops,
talks, seminars, documentary /film screening, wall magazines, students clubs
etc. For 3rd Semester BA students and 4th semester BSc students enrolled under
NEP, IKS is a 2 credit course also .Students are encouraged to join the IKS
Students Club.
Two
Research Cell :
1. Social
Sciences and Humanities and 2. Science: The two separate research cells have
been formed to promote quality and plagiarism free research among students and
faculty members of the college. The cells also organize workshops, training
programs, special lectures to promote quality research.
Other Cells/ Associations / Committees:
The college has a Parents Teachers Association and an Alumni
Association. Keeping in view the
importance of healthy interactions and establishing linkages with old students
and families of our present students Alumni association and Parents Teacher
association are working together for the progress of the student
and the institution. The Anti Tobacco Cell, the Anti Drug Cell, Anti Ragging
Cell are very significant cells to maintain the overall discipline
of the Institution along with the College Proctorial Board. To prevent any
harassment against women inside the campus the college has a Cell
for prevention of harassment against women. There is also a Women Grievance
Cell in the college. The Women's Cell of the college is established
in accordance with the directives of Honourable Supreme Court of India to
ensure safety, security and dignity of women at workplace to create
a congenial working environment which is free of sexual harassment or gender
based discrimination for all women employees and students and to
enhance awareness and sensitivity to this important issue amongst all
concerned.
